Other useful information:

Navigation.

We highly recommend hiring a rental car for your stay to make the most of your visit as public transport, whilst available is limited and can be slow. Le Palme is also situated in an area which would benefit from having a car as the nearest beach or supermarket is about 10 mins by car. In the event you do not wish to rent a car please let us know and we can assist in arranging pick-up and drop-off at the closest airport / port / train station.

Ports:

Travel domestically and also to various European countries

  • The closest port to Le Palme is ‘Porto Torres’ (approx. 15 min drive).

  • Eastern Sardegna - ‘Porto di Olbia’ (approx. 1 hr 40 min drive).

  • Southern Sardegna - ‘Porto di Cagliari’ (approx. 2 hr 40 min drive).

Trains

  • There are two main train companies operating across Sardegna. Trenitalia services the routes connecting the major cities (Cagliari, Olbia and Sassari) and ARST services smaller towns connecting them to cities. Tickets can be bought online and at selected stations. Please note that trains are infrequent and travel can be very slow when compared to travel by car, for example from Olbia to Sassari it takes 2 hr 40 mins by train and only 1 hr 15 mins by car. For this reason we recommend getting a hire car.

  • Trenino Verde Della Sardegna ‘Little Green Train’ operates in 5 locations and aims to highlight the beauty of Sardegna by embarking on slow scenic routes from the coast to inland.
