What to do…

    • Closest Beach: Platamona beach along the gulf of Asinara is a long flat white beach surrounded by maritime Pine trees. Approx. 9 mins by car. During the summer umbrellas can be rented from clubs along the beach ( Ristorante Altamarea) so you can sunbathe and enjoy a drink.

There are a number of entrances to the long beach (described as pettine or discesa a mare) where parking can be found.

In the evening Simà beach bar is a popular destination for cocktails and pizza and often feature DJs and live music.

One of our favourite places to eat is Rena Beach for the delicious seafood.

If you have brought a little four legged friend with you, then Bau Bau Beach which is at the 4th entrance to Platamona beach is dog friendly.

    • Famous Beaches: La Pelosa is widely known as the most beautiful beach in Sardegna and one of the most beautiful in all of Europe. Known for its crystal clear waters and pristine white sand, to protect its beauty a number of regulations have been put in place for beach-goers. Bookings are essential during the tourist period and can be made online. Nearby is the town of Stintino which once was a fishing town and now is a popular tourist spot. Here you can find delicious seafood and book boat trips out and around the protected island of Asinara.

Le Bombarde Beach located along the coral coast near Alghero is a popular location for scuba diving and wind surfing and has a lot of amenities. Our favourite little beach Lazzaretto is close by which boasts beautiful hidden coves just a small walk away.

    • Our favourites: Balai Beach is a picturesesque small cove near the town of Porto Torres. There are a number of pathways and bicycle lanes along the coast that make exploring the area very relaxing and scenic. As it is quite small, its recommended to get there early to avoid missing a spot! If you are daring enough you can jump off one of the limestone cliffs that surround it.

  • Sardinia lies on the Black Sea Mediterranean flyway and is an important stop for a vast number of migrating birds.

Best seasons for birdwatching: Spring (April and May) and Autumn (August to October)
